In most years, the fight over whether to repeal Virginia's "triggerman rule" ends with the close of the General Assembly session.

But Del. Todd Gilbert's perennial bill, which would allow prosecutors to seek the death penalty for primary accomplices to capital murder and not just the "triggerman," has become a key issue in the fight for the Republican nomination for attorney general.
