World Day Against the Death Penalty, World Coalition Against the Death Penalty
This event will reinforce and strengthen the international movement for the universal abolition of the death penalty.  The World Coalition calls on NGOs, teachers, lawyers and judges, local representatives and deputies, religious organizations, artists, journalists, and citizens, to prepare local initiatives for October 10, 2003.  The Coalition hopes to raise public awareness and promote change for the entire world and is committed to linking local actions with the international movement. Amnesty International's National Weekend of Faith in Action.  Annual project that seeks to bring together two important approaches to social justice -- that of human rights and that of faith-based community action. This national observance weekend invites a diverse range of faith communities throughout the country to devote a weekend to reflect, discuss, and take action on abolishing the death penalty within a faith-based framework.

Race to Execution, DePaul University College of Law.  A symposium that will explore the role that race plays in capital punishment.  Symposium will contribute to DePaul's commitment to diversity and will address the concerns of the historically oppressed through educating the community about the racial inequality long inherent in the criminal justice system, and through advancing a dialogue on ways to remedy those inequities.
